I’m really just an English major…

I interviewed an economist today. More to come later, but let’s just say that although I steeped myself in little Santa Barbara’s budget and finance committee for the year I was at the newspaper there, I felt a lot like the baby above while I tried to play devil’s advocate to Richard Duncan.

Before I write my story I need to read his book, The New Depression. But basically, he argues that we’re on the brink of a new Great Depression, and since we’re going to spend money on stimulus after stimulus anyway, we should take those trillions of dollars the fed uses to kick the can down the road and invest it in emerging technology instead. Visions of Solyndra and Abound Solar came to mind, and I pressed him on that, but it was a great interview. I’ll post the link to my story once it publishes.

About Michal Conger

I’m a reporter and digital editor, a cooking and whole foods fanatic, a runner, a music lover, an Anthropologie devotee. I'm an avid reader of G.K. Chesterton, C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien and anti-modernist novels. Lately you’ll find me freelancing about education policy and local economic issues to support my horseback riding habit. I am married to my best friend. And above all, I am committed to bearing the testimony of the Lord Jesus, giving an answer for the hope that is in me.
